Kath Begbie said... Booked with Bookme for 2.00pm Saturday. Almost immediately I got a friendly call from Skydive Abel Tasman saying they were flying in Saturday because drag racing was using the runway, and could I come Sunday instead. All good, but surely the Bookme website should not have been able to book this day?
Anyway, when I arrived for my 9.00am I was advised they were running behind schedule. I think perhaps a wee mechanical issue? Anyway, I was well informed and happy to wait. It gave me a good chance to see a few others take off and do easy landings, and with big smiles.
I went with 3 lovely young tourists who all got out of the plane before me. It was a bit scary to see their faces at this point...
The exit was easier than I thought it would be, the freefall was utterly mind blowing. I did feel a bit queasy / motion sick under the canopy, which remained with me for a while after landing. No problems with pressure in my ears, and the landing was just so easy.
Absolutely do it. All the staff were great. My jump master was Anthony, but all the team were just brilliant.
