It’s one of the best ways to see Queenstown’s surrounding landscape – a cruise across Lake Wakatipu aboard the iconic century-old coal fired steamship, the TSS Earnslaw.
Cruising beautiful Lake Wakatipu aboard Queenstown’s iconic steamship - the TSS Earnslaw is undoubtedly one of Queenstown’s must-do activities.
Like stepping into a postcard, you’ll be spellbound by the magic and grandeur of the “Lady of the Lake” as she showcases the best of Queenstown’s stunning scenic beauty.
Take in the breath-taking alpine views from the unique TSS Earnslaw as the leisurely 90 minute cruise takes you across the lake to picturesque Walter Peak High Country Farm and back again.
While underway you can visit the engine room, watch the stokers in action, view the collection of historical photos in the onboard mini museum or sing-along with the ship's pianist. Wine, beer, beverages and snacks can be purchased from the onboard Promenade Cafe and Bar.
Launched in 1912, the TSS Earnslaw has wowed many thousands of tourists, including many illustrious guests such as Queen Elizabeth and President Bill Clinton to name just a few.
With something for everyone you will be sure to love this breath-taking trip on Queenstown’s own iconic steamship - it’s truly an experience not to be missed.

We’ve been to Queenstown many times and we always take a trip on the TSS Earnslaw - whatever the weather it’s always stunning!
Great Experience and well worth doing, just being able to walk around the boat and see the steam engine in action and the poor man shoveling the coal into the burner in that heat what a job to have, plus the museum with great photos and history enfo aboard, it is something I'll always remember and suggest people do going there. Only bummer was when getting to the historic house we didn't know about being able to stay and have a BBQ buffet at the house if had purchased the ticket for it. not sure if was noted on the bookme sight or i missed it but still cant find a option for purchase on here with meal, but I would still differently do again if go back to Queenstown
Lovely day down the lake. Plenty of seating options.
