Take a journey into space at Space Place at Carter Observatory. Their planetarium offers a state of the art, digital experience that’ll take you on an unforgettable journey from Wellington to the outer regions of our Solar System and beyond.

You’ll discover the sheer scale of the Universe and its origins in the Big Bang, the Maori story of creation, and examine the possibility of life on other planets.

Travel through Space Place's very own black hole, handle a space rock and launch a rocket!

This is a fun, interactive and educational experience for the whole family.

    Tuesday, Friday & Saturday - 10am to 11pm

    Regular Hours:

    Tuesday & Friday - 4pm to 11pm

    Saturday - 10am to 11pm

    Sunday - 10am to 5.30pm

    Notes:

    Closed on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, and Christmas Day. Last entry is at 10pm

    On Tuesdays and Fridays, Space Place opens at 4pm, for 4pm bookings you are welcome to explore the galleries and learn about the universe until the first show which is at 5pm.

    On Weekends Space Place opens at 10am, for 10am bookings you are welcome to explore the galleries and learn about the universe before the first show which is at 11am.
